Substantive / Structural Editing:
- Reorganizing and / or restructuring a manuscript for content and flow
Stylistic Editing:
- Editing in respect to the integrity of the language used (removing unecessary slang and / or jargon, ensuring that the reading level of the manuscript remains consistent for the audience)
- Maintaining clarity in the meaning of the work
Copy Editing:
- Editing for consistency of mechanics and style in respect to grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.
- Editing in line with the conventions of specific regions
Proofreading:
- Checking the accuracy of all edits within the manuscript and the physical layout of the galley, ARC, and / or mock-up
- Providing a final read-through of the work
Rewriting:
- Creating or suggesting new or alternate content for the manuscript based on editorial suggestions
LAYOUT AND DESIGN SERVICES
Layout:
- Constructing a layout or designing a layout template for a manuscript, including typesetting, indexing, page breaks, the location and installation of artwork or photographs, constructing a table of contents, inserting page numbers, and fact checking if necessary
- Providing advice for layout design and construction
Production Editing:
- Ensuring accuracy and consistency of the design choices in relation to the editorial work and the manuscript itself
